We’ve been thinking about how we could add additional interest to the MilitaryFares.com site. One thing we’d like to try (and thought would be fun) is to write general posts about travel locations—regardless of whether we’ve been there or not—and get feedback from you! As we create the content, we’ll keep them grouped using the tag, destinations, to make it easier to follow along. We hope you enjoy the series and look forward to your comments and participation!
Destination: Arizona
Our first destination in this series is Arizona. Arizona is known for its canyons, deserts, and really hot weather. But I’m finding out there is so much more to Arizona than just deserts and canyons. Of course Phoenix and Tucson are great travel destinations, but it turns out the state has a lot of other places to visit for those wanting a variety of things to do during their stay.
Normally offering over 250 days of sunshine during the year, you could take advantage of all that beautiful Arizona weather to go hiking, golfing, skiing, fishing, rafting, relaxing and possibly a dozen other things you could think of.
Do you need a reason to go to Arizona other than just to have fun? Okay, consider this; some people go to Arizona for health reasons. It turns out that the really hot weather I mentioned earlier has low humidity to go along with it–which is really great for some people with certain health related issues.
If you are stationed in Arizona, all the more reason for you to learn about the area and take advantage of all the many things to do across the state. As you may know the MWR (Morale, Welfare and Recreation) programs are a great resource for military families. Along with the civilian attractions offered, research to find out what other special offerings might be available to you at military installations. In Arizona, check out the offerings at Fort Huachuca and the Yuma Proving Ground. Information is constantly being updated so you might want to do an internet search to find out the latest.
